New Year Cleaning
• Now is a good time to give your reusable shopping bags a wash! Try to make a habit out of wiping out reusable plastic bags or tossing cloth bags in the wash once a month to keep them clean. (We carry washable cotton and hemp reusable produce bags to help reduce the amount of single plastic use, as well as thick canvas totes and the classic string bag.)
• Gently wipe the dust from houseplant leaves and remove any dead plant material around the base of the plant.
• Give corners and baseboards a much needed scrub with a natural cleaner like Orange Oil Cleaner or CitraSolv concentrate. Other commonly neglected areas like kitchen counter corners and windowsills are a great place to refresh.
Repurpose:
After holiday celebrations, clear out some of the clutter to freshen your space and your spirit. Hosting clothing swaps is a great way to give your old favorites a new life, provides sustainable fashion, and can be a lot of fun as a casual social event. Donating gently used or new items that you don’t need can be beneficial to someone in need in our community. There are many non-profits that will accept donations here in Eugene/Springfield. Visit some of the local websites of your favorite non-profits to see what donation sites are currently accepting or what they are in need of!
