Planting
Fall is planting season! Soil temperatures are still warm, and the rains are returning, helping plants get established. As summer fades, our nursery will begin to fill up again with a wider selection of plants for the season! Expect lots of colorful mums and cheerful asters, perennials, shrubs, trees, and blueberries! We will also be getting in regular deliveries of fresh culinary herbs and fall and overwintering vegetable starts. Plan your spring color now! Our fall planted, spring-blooming bulbs are arriving with a lovely selection including daffodils, snowdrops, crocus, hyacinths, and lots more to choose from. Paperwhite bulbs will also begin to arrive mid month. For a list of more things that can be planted by seed or transplant check out our What to Plant in September info!

Fertilizing
In the fall, soil is still warm and beneficial organisms in the soil are most active when soil is warm and moist. Feed your soil by applying minerals and slow release fertilizers in the fall months. This will increase the development of microorganisms which generate available nutrients that plants will need for the next growing season!
Natural and organic fertilizer is ideal for enhancing soil fertility and stimulating plant growth in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way that supports plants over a longer time frame than synthetic fertilizer.

Protect Your Soil
With fall quickly approaching, now is the time to seed some cover crop to protect your soil during the winter. We currently have plenty of cover crop in stock in the garden department. Check out more on the benefits of Cover Crops here.

Planting Seed Garlic in the Fall
