Planting
This is a great time for planting trees and shrubs! You can still plant your garlic bulbs, and spring flowering bulbs now if you haven’t done so already. Paperwhites are now available, and are great for forcing indoors to make pretty and fragrant displays.

Feed Your Soil
Fall is an excellent time for planting, and due to warmer soil temperatures is also a great time to add natural minerals and fertilizers to the soil to promote vigorous spring growth. Learn more about Fertilizing in the Fall Here.

Cover Crops
Protect and cover your soil by using cover crops through the fall and winter. Mow down growth in the spring and use as ‘green manure’ to add organic matter and nutrients to the soil. Learn more about the benefits of Cover Crops Here.

Cleanup and Prevention
As gardening tasks wind down for the season, it’s a good idea to clean, oil, and sharpen your garden tools before putting them away until next spring. Prevent pests and disease by cleaning up and properly disposing of yard debris and plant waste. Mulch around plants to protect tender roots and newer plants from impending cold temperatures and frost. Mulching also helps keep soil moist and protects from erosion.
