What better kitchen tool to assist you in creating beautiful loaves of rustic homemade bread, than a proofing basket?  These baskets are made for letting your loaves rise, and as they rise, they take on the beautiful uniform shape of the basket before baking, creating an attractive ribbed, floury, and crunchy crust.  When you’re not using them to make bread, they make lovely serving baskets.  Make beautiful sourdough loaves time and time again!

You do not bake in these baskets, but rather after doing the kneading and shaping of your dough, place into the well-floured basket (to prevent dough from sticking as it rises) and cover with a flour sack towel or lightly oiled plastic wrap to let rise before baking.  You can also place a floured towel in the center to keep your basket clean.
